I see there is some conversation on the Northwest Football League message board concerning the GNFA. It seems there are some in the NWFL who like the concept of a multi league Northwest Championship. However the people posting say it can only work if the OFL,EFL and PNFC move our Spring schedules forward a full six weeks. I find it amusing when one claims that it is the NWFL extending the olive branch by scheduling what they consider to be preseason games. I don't buy that for a minute. They view us as inferior and see these as easy tuneup games.We have a good thing going here and we don't need the NWFL to join to legitimize the GNFA. If they want in they have to play a spring schedule like the rest of us. It's 3 to 1. I know there are some me included that would vote against them ever even being allowed into the GNFA because I know what would happen. I'll elaborate in private if you care to email me. I've read the forum Maty is referencing and I agree. They just don't get it. We are all spring teams and that's what we do. I find it funny that they are "extending an olive branch" and claiming we need them to legitimize the GNFA, however they have made no calls to anyone in the GNFA to my knowledge and they are the only ones concerned with changing schedules to accomodate their needs.
The NWFL can keep thinking they are the big dog on the block and that's fine, the GNFA is building a SPRING organization....key word ORGANIZATION.
The nice thing about the teams in the GNFA is that we are all on the same page with the same goals in mind. Those guys can't even agree on or settle on what "national" affiliation they should all be apart of. They are more concerned with some bogus national tournamentand fake hall of fames than fixing the problems within their own league.
I guess I should qualify that by saying not all of the NWFL opinion-makers can be lumped into that boat. There are a few who have an understanding of what the GNFA is about and due to a feeling of loyalty to the NWFL will go along with the majority and not rock the boat.
But, I read one post where guys are complaining about the weather in April and May as a reason not to play football??? Come on! This is football, your players are supposed to be men not a bunch of whiny baseball players who can't play in the rain!! (No offense Boyer! Get that knee healed up!)
Football is the last bastion of gladiatorial dominance...it should be played in lightning too just to add to the element of danger! But seriously...what kind of football player are you if you can't play in the rain and have to have all your game under perfect dry sunny conditions or in a climate controlled dome? Sounds like volleyball to me!
The other problem with the NWFL is that they take their playoffs teams and stack them with the talent in the rest of the league rather than the team that got them there. We won't be having that problem in the GNFA because the team that won your league championship is the one you play with throughout the GNFA playoffs. None of that stupid stacking of teams. We at the EFL have closed our rosters effectively this Saturday so none of our teams can add anymore players starting tomorrow.

Since I can't find the thread I'm not sure exactly what the authors meant, but wouldn't the GNFA moving ahead six weeks and the NWFL moving back six weeks be an example of a compromise?
I'm not advocating the idea, but I'm not sure it was meant as the "we're the established league so change your schedule so your tournament is convenient for us" statement that you make it out to be.
By the way, who made the comment? The NWFL Commissioner? One of the NWFL team owners? Or a player?

So Maty, what WOULD happen if the NWFL switched to a Spring schedule? We're all adults here. Would the Shockers break off and start a winter league or something? Just kidding of course - it's all good.
Mark - "fake Hall of Fames"? Which Hall of Fames are you talking about? Surely not the one operated by a former board member of the PNFC who inducted several members the PNFC right after it's formation.

As far as league playoffs, it hasn't happened since I've been around. The last issue I remember was Curtis Delgardo playing for the Bengals in the 1999 playoffs. He hadn't played all season but apparently was on the Bengals roster all year. After that the league adopted a rule that a player must be active in 3 or 5(?) regular season games to participate in the playoffs.
The NFA, AFA, and NAFL have rules regarding adding players. The NWFL worked within those rules.
When Raider LB Ishmael Littleton, for example, played with the Hawks in the 2004 NAFL championship, he played as Ishmael Littleton, not under an alias.
Off-hand I don't remember the Jaguars adding any players in 2005. Feel free to check the stats and rosters: nwfootball.net/nafl/
We all know the hyper-competitive Jets were nortorious for this, but they've been out of the league for several years. You seem to be painting the entire NWFL with a broad brush. That would be akin to NWFLers claiming that all members of the GNFA joined that association purely out of spite for the NWFL.
The Jets had a knack for getting other teams star players to play for them the following season so most of their additions were done within rules.
If the NWFL were ever to participate in the GNFA they would have no trouble following the GNFA rules. However, even if you conducted multiple DNA tests throughout the season, there'll be GNFAers who'd claim otherwise. But no worries, it doesn't bother us. Some view it as just another excuse. Someone suggests both entities compromise and alter their schedules by six weeks and suddenly the issue changes from a scheduling problem to a cheating problem. I'm a bit curious to hear what the next reasoning/excuse is.
Anyway, if you can think of any specific examples of your allegations we'd love to hear them. Feel free to post them here or on the NWFL board.
