Fellas, our game with the Bengals was an exciting one and you should all savor the flavor. Keep in mind I have never been a big fan of close high drama games if I am coaching them. The tides of battle and possession can change much to quickly and winning can become losing very very fast. "Being first with the most" has always been one of my basic coaching philosophies.
Each time we play we continue to learn about ourselves individually and as a team. Sometimes good and sometimes bad however we all find we never stay the same. We learn who can be trusted and who we can't depend on in good times or bad. We see who will step beyond his personal interest and do whatever it takes to win. We learn who has just been "talkin it" (for weeks and months) and who at the end of the day can truly "walk it" in a game.
Having said that we must address a problem that if left unchecked will result in a lot of big big problems in the future in potentially every game we play.
Player Demeanor: and in particular "sideline discipline" or to be more precises the "lack of it" at games.
Every player is responsible for himself and in turn the team is responsible for itself. In future games (especially tight ones) penalties for late hits, excessive celebration, kicking the flag, pouring on to the field, as well as false starts, delay of games, calling time outs due to indecision on the field etc are not only costly on any given play they tend to bring down the moral of the team and ultimately can cost us the game.
Not only are they embarrassing to yourself, your family and fans they reflect directly on our team and your coaches. They can result (with multiple calls) in your on "Head Coach being ejected" from the field. (not a real good idea guys) So clean it up right now or take a seat on the bench.
Film and Home Study Offense you all have playbooks to look at this week. Monday Night Football (viking football) Check the website for time and location. If you performed poorly this week this is your chance to learn and get better. If you did not play as much as you would like then come in and show us what you have to offer the team. It's up to you.......
The Monarchs are next on the schedule and we only have a few days to update our game plan and prepare for next Saturdays game. (they are practicing hard this week, you can believe that)We have a lot we can improve on both sides of the ball and attendance should be at the top of the Vikings expectations list for all its players. So be there and be square.
