Fellas, good workout again last Saturday. This marks the end of our 2-a-day practices for this season. The weather did not cooperate as usual however we were on turf and got a lot of good work in. When you have a good team turnout in that kind of poor weather you know you have good team character and a solid core group.
Coach Wes will be releasing the practice schedule later this week. What ever it is we all need to spike up the attendance and pick up the repetitions. What ever else happens the offense must solidify its running game and that means we need the lineman in the mix at practice now.
Not practicing on Tuesdays and Thursday. Why? Who's at fault? WTF ? Well I can tell you a good part of the problem is money or more accurately the lack of it. Player fees are not coming in.
Yesterday I got a chance to look over the team's fee payment roster and I was a little surprised at how many of our players (you know the ones that have your back) are dragging their feet and creating a real problem for the entire team.
Lack of practice days has already taken its toll on the team as a whole and in the number of each players individual reps. Unless our $$$ situation is improved very very very soon the team will continue to suffer and will not be prepared for the Bengals and beyond.
(other teams are practicing (3) times a week and are gaining the advantage in play repetitions and individual conditiioning.
Chalk Talk (something needs to be said) So here it is.
I don't have control of the whole team and so I can't speak for all the players and coaches on this team however I can speak for me and the offense group. Most of you have figured out that my coaching style is a straight forward no BS approach. I am not a "soft touch" and I have little patience's with players and or coaches that bring down the organization with excuses in either time or money or responsibility non-performance.
I take this team and it's players productivity and health seriously and I don't like excuses (lame or otherwise) or do I play any favorites. If you want to be treated like a full grown man then act like one. Take responsibility for you action or in-actions and be committed to the whole program and not just the parts of it that are good for you. Remember 21 years of age on a drivers license does not necessarily make you a man. If you cant walk it then for god sakes don't talk.
This is a great and fun team sport at this level however this is not a recreational sport and some of you need to come to grips with that. This is the reality of this game and my beliefs and attitudes toward this sport. They won't change in the near future. You can bet money on that.
If you are not coming to practices regularly and or have not paid your fees in full before the first game on April 21st or have not "paid up" your fee arrangement with coach Wes you "will not" be issued a uniform for the Bengals Game.
Apparently some players want to play for "free" and or come in at the last minute and save the day for all of us or try to skate by and tell Wes your good for it $ your good for it $ and BS your way through the season. Want to bet you don't.
This team is made up of many players who paid or who are paying their money as agreed in good faith. I will personally make sure they don't get screwed over by skaters who think they know how to run a con game on everyone. On these issues all (veteran vikings or fresh newbees will all get the same treatment) Pay up or hit the road. No kidding...............................
I told all of you at the beginning of this season at meetings and our first practice that the old ways of doing team business were gone and their are "NO" shortcuts in 2012 and I meant it.
We have a very good thing going right now in 2012 the core group has a very good chemistry and work ethic. If some of you are so inexperienced you cant see that, or if you are loafers, or if you are just free ride skaters please take your shortcuts, and non payments and your BS and get down the road.
The rest of the team will be glad to see you go. Please make it soon so the keepers can improve and heal from the cancer you have brought us.
