Fellas, what a great day last Saturday was. Wow. We had great weather and a great 2-A-day turnout. We got off to a little bit of a slow start because of some money and equipment issues however at the end of the day it had been an outstanding practice day.
Last Saturday some of you started sweating hard for the first time this season and that's good. Get familiar with it because next Saturday the 31st we are going for real. The cuts and bruises will start to show on the arms and other places and the sweat and sometimes blood will flow. Again all good.
Just remember these men are our own players and to keep the hitting clean. No chopping in practice and stay off the legs as much as possible. Remember at "no time" touch any QB at practice.
Hydration: guys is going to start being more of an issue as the season progresses and temps rise. Don't take this lightly as BS. Cramping and heat exhaustion can hit anybody including you coach's. DFU..
Equipment: from now on you need to bring "all" your gear to "all" practices. Why? Because we will do some kind of hitting at every practice up until the first game. No Gear! No Practice! No Kidding!
Mouth Pieces: I saw a lot of you with no mouth pieces last Saturday. They are not an optional item. Get one, and molding it (read the friggin instructions) and use it "in your mouth" at practice. (and no stories of how you boiled the water a burnt your mouth either)
Picking Strings: all of you signed up this season to "play" football. Key word being play. We are starting to see some frustration on how many reps some of you get and which practice group you are in. Understandable.
However also under this. If you don't know (and I mean know) or understand our offensive schemes you will not be able to execute in practices or in games and that slows the progress of other players and slows the practice down in general. This I won't allow.
Talent is a very good thing however it also takes knowledge of the plays and the ability to play smart.
We will play the best (practice proven) player personnel only if they know "our" offensive plays. Period.
Remember I don't give a rats butt about what you leaned on Madden at home.
Their is only one way to learn what we are about offensively in 2012. Come to practice and learn it.
Remember guys we are counting down the days now. The question is will we ready?? Did we waste what time we had to prepare?? Most importantly did we prepare to just play or did we prepare to win??
We shall see.......
