Down 20-0 midway through the 2nd quarter, the Snohomish County Vikings scored 22 unanswered point to defeat the CFL's Renton Ravens.
The Ravens scored on back to back offensive plays to go up 14-0. Their first score, late in the 1st quarter, came on a 14 yard pass from Latae Vasa to Rashae Patterson.
The Vikings drove down to the Raven 24 on the ensuing drive, but playing without their kicker, were forced to go for it on 4th and 9. Greg Paris sacked Viking QB Hal Bisnett for a loss of 11 yards ending the Viking threat.
Taking over at their 35, Vasa hit #2 Brandon Zinn for a 65 yard score on first down.
On their next possession, Vasa hit Rashae Patterson for 51 yards down to the Viking 20. The drive stalled and kicker Larry Moody came on to attempt a 37 yard field goal midway through the 2nd quarter. LBs Viking Chris Stokes and Jay Floberg blocked the kick and as it was bouncing down the Viking sideline, Raven Angelo Harris was first to the ball and picked it up and returned it 35 yards for the Ravens final TD. The Ravens went for two from their 8 yard line and Floberg stuffed RB Vernen Wood for no gain.
The Ravens attempted an onside kick that was recovered by Viking LB Ivanhoe Keo at the Raven 41. Ten plays later a Bisnett pass into the endzone deflected off a defender's helmet and right to receiver Jimi McCollum. Bisnett connected with McCollum on a fade for the 2-conversion.
Halftime: Ravens 20 - Vikings 8
On the first snap of the 2nd half, a shotgun snap went over the head of Raven QB Latae Vasa and he wisely kicked it out of the endzone for a safety.
With the help of a 31 yard pass from Bisnett to Robbie Delgardo, the Vikings needed just seven plays to drive down to the Raven 18 where a botched handoff was recovered by the Ravens.
The Ravens went 3 and out, and this time the Vikings fumbled away the ball on just their 2nd play from scrimmage.
Two plays later Ravens gave the ball back when CB Chris Miller stepped in front of a Vasa pass and returned it 25 yards down to the Raven 31.
The Vikings needed just three plays to put the ball in the endzone with Bisnett connecting with JR Wells in the corner of the endzone from 17 yards out. Wells came up short on the try for two points.
On the Ravens first play from scrimmage LB Chris Stokes stepped in front of a Vasa pass setting up the Vikings at the Ravens 32. On the first play of the 4th quarter, an incomplete pass on 4th and 5 appeared to stop the drive but the Ravens were called for pass interference. A few plays later, on 3rd and 1 from the 4, Bisnett scored on a QB sneak. With a 2 point lead, the Vikings went for 2 but Bisnett's pass went incomplete.
The Ravens had four more possessions but they ended with a punt, fumble lost and two interceptions.
Bisnett was nearly perfect in the 2nd half. He was 7/8 for 94 yards and a TD, and had 27 yards rushing with another TD.
