All players and Coaches of the NWFL
Be advise that players that have played for other NWFL team are not released to play for a new team. This includes folded teams or released players after the deadline.
Please contact Commissioner Baines if you have any questions

a lis of ineligible players would be helpful. If a list is not available how are Coaches and team administraters supposed to know if they are allowing one of these players to compete? How can this be enforced without a list?

I think the player and coaches know who they are. It's not going hurt to give the Commissioner a phone call on this one. But then again the season is almost over. Rules are on switching team is after the 5th game of the season. So if you what to switch teams you better give the Commissoner Banies that phone call .

As usual, this issue is not quite as straight forward as most people think.
CONSTITUTION OF THE NORTHWEST FOOTBALL LEAGUE
SECTION 14: Players’ Rosters
H) No player may move to another team after the 5th week of the season, regardless of how many games their team has played.
J) If a team ceases to operate while the regular season is in progress, all players are free to play for whichever team they so choose.
K) Players must play in three (3) regular season league games and *remain on the teams roster for the duration of the season to be eligible for any and all playoff games. This does not include players new to the league.
Paragraph H indicates that players can't change teams because of the 5th week rule. Paragraph I contradicts this because a team has folded. So can they change teams or can't they?
To further complicate matters, players from the folded team have allegedly already switched teams and played in a game with the new team with 3 weeks remaining in the season. However, that team has a bye in the last three weeks so the new players will only get in two regular season games and won't be eligible for the playoffs. However, players that switched to a different team that doesn't have a bye remaining will get in 3 games and would be eligible for the playoffs.
Obviously this is not fair so the Commissioner had to make a ruling until the bylaws can be amended to cover such situations.

Once again, "my master" is the voice of logic, not the voice of emotion. I thought at the beginning of the year there was some sub-committee of owners formed to clean up the woefully inadequate set of bylaws that govern our league. It will be interesting to see whose interests are served regarding the folding team situation. Dammstrate!

Sucks for the ppl who were on a team that just plain gave up. Are they just burnt for the rest of the season? Also, how come the commish (Baines) never answers the questions John does on this board?

Once again, "my master" is the voice of logic, not the voice of emotion. "my master" is a logical person but he's also the League Information Officer for which he does a incredible job. For those who didnt know. As far as Commissioner Baines responding to a message on this board.....It wont happen. His responses are directed toward the owners on behalf of players. If at anytime you are unable to get clarification thru your ownership, every player or coach in the league can call him directly at 253-691-6858 I thought at the beginning of the year there was some sub-committee of owners formed to clean up the woefully inadequate set of bylaws that govern our league. It will be interesting to see whose interests are served regarding the folding team situation. Yes....a committee was formed, however the chairman of the committee never followed thru. Also at that time the current issues werent part of the discussion. So that commitee even if active might not have been prepared to resolve it. The current Bylaws are adequate. They just dont always fit individual needs. And they never will. Every team in this league or any league could find trouble with the way things are run. Yes I know situation come up that arent anwsered by the bylaws. When this happens ownership has the obligation to change it. We have a League Meeting Schedule Sunday Aug 29th Any player, coach or staff member in this league is welcome to attend. Darrell Fisher League Secretary N.W.F.L.

I agree. It seems like alot of word of mouth when it comes to the league rules. I think somtimes players feel blindsided by these rules. We all can't go to league meetings. So can we maybe get a summary of the minutes too?
