There are many misconceptions of a Pit-bull that I myself believed at one time until Rocky came into our life. Rocky, (named after our favorite Seahawk player Rocky Bernard.) came to the Harris household at a time where he and I needed each other the most. Without going into detail, our family was falling apart, and he was in need of a good home. Rocky with his love, loyalty and compassion strengthened the bond between our families. He is a picture of perfection and any stereotypes applied to the Pit-bull breed do not apply to him. He goes everywhere with my boyfriend, and us Quinte is the Center for the Oregon Thunderbolts www.tbolts.net (Northwest semi pro football league) www.nwfootball.net and Rocky has become family to the organization. He goes to practice with him and he travels with the team to the games in Oregon and Washington. Saturday, was a hard game for Quinte to play. The Thunderbolt were about to face the Seattle Stallions, in a win or go home playoff game. With Rocky’s health deteriorating in the back of his mind, Quinte went out there and gave it all he had and t he Thunderbolts pulled of a 16-13 win dedicated to Rocky. They made it, but still the question on everyone’s mind is Rocky going to make it?
Rocky Bernard, has somehow become an inspiration to the Harris household. We have one whole room dedicated to the Seahawks and in that room are two pairs of Rocky Bernards’ game gloves that he gave to Quinte’s son in two separate games. The last pair of gloves given to his son at last Fridays game with the bears. Quinte’s son Tavyus said, “Rocky Bernard remembered me!” Rocky is a stand up type of person on and off the field, has become more then just a player on our favorite team the Seattle Seahawks, and are Seattle Seahawk season ticket holders for years. Everyone in the family has a Seahawks jersey even Rocky.
Our dog has made a big impact in our life and our friends and families life in the 4+ years we have owned him. He never had to want for anything, he was well taken care of (spoiled I would say) high energy, listens and can make you smile when you’ve had one of those days. Unfortunately, an unexplainable, freak, sickness has taken a hold of Rocky and the cost of his medical bills is more then we can handle. I took him to the vet and what they told us was his lung had collapsed and they do not know why. The cost of his care is$2,500.00. He has lost some weight and it is getting harder for him to breath. I have tried everything I know how to do to try and save Rocky who is more then just a pet he is family and loved more then I can even begin to express. Please help us save our dog’s life that has touched so many others and us in so many different ways.
