Players not showing up to practice is very common. Welcome to semi-pro. We (Jags) had problems with that all season. And yes, even my old squad, the P.S. Jets had that problem. Every semi-pro team I have played for had that problem. I have played semi-pro ball in 4 different states! The coach just has to make a very productive practice with what he has. With the Jets, there were times we only had 10-15 players at practice. It didnt even phase Kenny Austin. He would walk up to the field and say, "I'm here, your here, lets work!". Then he would proceed to run our a$$es off. Kenny would say he could run a practice in his back yard. He always made practice productive, no matter what. I was really upset with him last season when I left the Saints over the fact that he didnt play me one snap against the Hawks. I feel that that was a big time game, and I AM a big time player. I should have been in that game. It hurt me to just stand there and watch the Hawks score 30 unanswered points in the 4th quarter and not be able to do anything about it. I was a starter for Kenny on 2 National Championship squads, and I expected better from him. Since then, me and Kenny have talked it over, and we are still good friends.
