1) You to be at practice - no more excuses we are making a run for the championship, we are all making sacrifices, we cannot afford mistakes on the field because you weren't at practice to understand your responsibility.
2) You to have a winning attitude - That means you let the coaches coach, respect their decisions, some will be right some will be wrong, had you made all the right decisions in life you would probably be getting a check to play football but your not are you?
3)You to be unselfish - There is nothing that grinds at the heart and sole of an organization more than someone playing a team sport for individual accolades. If you need someone to tell you that your good you probably aren't! True superstars in a team environment rise to the top because of the contributions they make to the bigger picture, which is to win at all costs.
4)You to make 100% effort - Not just on the field during the game, but more importantly at practice and in your daily life. Your individual "commitment to excellence" will be combined with your team mates commitment and that will become the fuel for our eventual success in the NWFL. Game day is not the day to figure out your assignments, a player that says "I don't know what I'm supposed to do" on game day is a player that lacks commitment to the team. Questions that go unasked manifest themselves into costly mistakes on the field. It is your responsibility to seek out the answers you need. Focus on the effort you are making and the end result shall follow.
5)You to be self disciplined - Football is played one down at a time, each down lasting approximately 10 seconds. Players that cannot discipline themselves to do their jobs with 100% effort in 10 second increments are a liability to the team. It's not about executing your responsibility on some plays, it's about doing it on EVERY play. Self Discipline is the bi-product of control and focus, it is a skill that is not only required in team sports but also in business and in life. It is your responsibility to:
. Know your assignment on each play
. Get a good nights sleep the night before a game
. Get to the stadium on time on game day
. Be at practice on time
. Be a positive influence to yourself, your family, and your team members at ALL TIMES
. Be both mentally and physically ready for each game
. Not have to be reminded to get dressed on time before every game
. Remove the "semi" in all that you do with regard to your team and focus on fulfilling your responsibility to professionalism
6)You to make a change and make it now - The only permanent change in life is "self-imposed" change. For our team to reach the pinnacle of our potential each individual must make a conscious change and an unrivaled commitment to self improvement. Why not try being completely unselfish, respectful to all, 100% committed, cooperative, and most of all focused.
7)You to recognize your responsibility to the game - What a privilege it is for you to have the opportunity to continue to strap it on each week in the NWFL. Understand that you are not doing anyone any favors, nobody owes you for your participation, in fact it is just the opposite. Without the love for the game that the owners, coaches, and league officers there would be no opportunity for YOU. RESPECT THAT AND CONDUCT YOUR SELF WITH HUMILITY AND APPRECIATION!
8)You to play with passion - Football is an emotional game, it's foundation is based on passion. You must "love" this game to excel at high level. Your passion will appear in your contributions to the team. It will show up at practice, in the games, in your sideline conduct, in everything you do related to this great game of ours. Execution with passion is not a license for undisciplined self control...remember that!
9) You to play a level above your ability - Thats the best I can do is not acceptable to your fellow Jaguars and should not be acceptable to yourself. Excuses are not the gateway to a championship. Every player on our squad MUST believe in themselves and their teammates to avoid playing down to our opponents level.
10)You to be GREAT - Jaguars believe that every member of our team makes up a collective unit that is unrivaled and unrattled by competition. We set the standard for our own self imposed expectations and we expect SUCCESS in all that we do. Jaguars expect their fellow team members to make the play, to be disciplined, to be focused, to be committed, and in every situation to give more from the heart than our opponents. Winning takes heart, it takes character, it takes passion, it takes cooperation, it takes execution, it takes focus, but most of all it takes EVERY Jaguar to win a Championship - "BELIEVE"
I wasn't the first to say this and won't be the lost.
