Are there any other teams that don't want to play against the Hawks, if so please inform us now so those of us with families can plan some vacation time. It’s rather pitiful a team would forfeit playing the Hawks, but search around to try and play another team. That to me is very classless, and it tells everyone in the other leagues that we have teams that are not willing to play a game they may possibly lose. I have always been taught, you have to put your mind to whatever you want to succeed at and there are times you might fail, but at least you gave it your all.
Good luck on finding a team that you feel up to competing with.

:oYou know what D. Smith, I think that is some straight up Biotch S#!+. If you are in the league, you should be REQUIRED to play out your schedule. Yeah, you guys have built a great team there, but teams should want to be the first to take ya'll down. I love facing top notch competition, and I hate that I havent had the chance to knock heads with the Hawks yet. But if things pan out right, I will get my chance real soon!

Bull, now that’s the competitive spirit I like to see....I have always loved playing the teams people say can't be beat, or they have to many superstars. It always made me get better prepared to play. But O well, I guess not everyone can compete at the same level. Bull I hope you continue to play hard, and get your wish of playing the Hawks. “Play Hard” DSMITH #6 Eastside Hawks P.S. On Any Given Saturday, any team can be beat.

Hey DSMITH, Do you play or coach? Cause if you are a player maybe you should let your coaches, do all the talking about teams and playersa being classless. In my opinion, not that it counts. Is your complaining on this message board is classless and being a little bit like a punk kid. Is that what you are?

First of all, I’m a player, a team captain, and a coach. Second I hope you do not play for any team that chooses not to play the Hawks, because I commit my summer weekends just like everybody else to play a game I love. All I was saying to the teams that don’t want to play the Hawks is to let us know, so people who have families can plan a vacation. I have been apart of this league for 11yrs and I have never experienced a team not wanting to play a team because they were to good, and or the other team felt they had no chance in hell of winning. Actually, this is the second team that chosen not to play the hawks in the past 3 years(my apoligies).
WHY? WHY NOT PLAY? WHY WASTE PEOPLES SATURDAYS?
For example The Everett Tramps (1993), this team took a beating every game they played. But they came back and played the next weekend even harder. This team lost every game by an average of 30+ points. Did they quit or say we don’t want to play the Jets, No they played us very tough even though the lost 70+ to 0.
I have spent 11 consecutive summers playing football games every weekend and practicing during the week. I don’t like people who start something and don’t finish.
I have accumulated 5 league rings, 1 national championship ring and a lot of memories. That is what this game and this league should be about, not quitters. What kind of exmaple is that going to show the kids that come to watch us play, that it is ok to pick and choose your competition. I also coach a little league football team and my kids asked me why did the team you were going to play not want to play you. I told them I don't know.
In closing, with my statements, I did not slander any team in our league nor did I direct my message toward any person, just to any other team that chooses not to play us be courteous to other teams.

Derrick, Let it go. There is a lot more to the whole situation then you're aware of. This was in the works probably for quite sometime, but for one reason or another it dragged out till Tuesday for a final decision. Not the fault of the Vikings what so ever that the final decision lagged on like that either. Good luck to everyone this weekend. You'll find me in a lounge chair, bbq'n and drinking lot's of root beer.

You're invited. Just don't know if you'll be able to keep up or not. Glenn Acheson is only invited if we have security or law enforcment present.

Coach Fisher and the Thunderbolts organization handled this matter in an extremely democratic way. It was a decision that was not made hastily nor was it made alone.
He notified the entire league and expressed his reasons which in my opinion were valid.
Everyone should understand this game wasn’t change because the Vikings weren’t willing to play us. All of the Viking players were more than willing to put it down.
There is a lot more to this than everyone knows so please do not make assumption about the Viking organization.
Believe me Wes Fischer and his organization are a class act

hawks you are good,BUT I don't think its the fear of losing, that makes other teams not want to play against you. It's the attitude you all have.I'm sorry if I offend any of you but I have seen the cheap shots that the hawks do on more than one occasion, like going for knees, starting fights, ect, ect,It seems like you guys are trying to permantly injure the other players.Because you guys are sooo good you can afford to be graces.most of the players in the nwfl are on the field because they love the game, they can't afford to have their knees blowen out & not be able to work and support their familys.

I agree with Raiderfan. I don't think any team doesn't want to play you guys because they are scared to lose. I think the other teams you play hate the field atmosphere you guys create during a game. Just like Raiderfan said, you have horrible attitudes, you purposely try to start fights and you're just flat out unsportsmanlike and rude. Talk about classless. You try to run up the score when you're already winning by more than 20, and sometimes more than 50. I think the Hawks are a good football team and there's no doubt about it. But when it comes to calling other team's classless...maybe you should learn the definition of the word and take a look at your own team before you use it.

If you stack your team with paid players (allegedly) and then seek to humiliate teams made up mostly of former high school players playing for fun then you can expect that eventually some teams will decide not to play you.
You're getting what you deserve.

So.... .... Football is a physical sport (contact sport), football is about attitude. For those of you sitting in the stands this game can seem very rough. But that is why you are in the stands. We play with the attitude that we need to get the job done. We do not cheap shot, because if we did we would be penalized. We play whistle to whistle, and yes there are times you can't stop your motion when you are making a tackle or chasing the QB. That happens on all levels of this sport, Deal with it. As for running up the score, there are about 300+ teams trying to get ranked to play in the NAFL tournament & make an appearance at the National Championship game in October (http://www.nafl.org/playoffs/). That means you have to score points so that you have a more PF's (points for) than you have PA's (points against). We made it that far last year and we plan on going back, but we have to win our league and win the West Coast conference Championship. I'm sorry if you don't understand the concept of how this works, but from having been there last year and not finishing what we set out to, we have a practiced plan to execute. And for those teams that choose not to play us it only helps us, because we get 35 points and no points scored against us. Coach Fentress, stack our team? Players are player’s, we can only play 11 at a time. Remember you scored on us and even lead during the game. How many other teams can say that? So, are you telling your team that is the reason you lost, because we have players that have played at higher levels. What do you think that will do to their confidence? The next time you play us, if there is a next time, they will already have it in their minds they have lost the game. Don’t make excuses “JUST GET HER DONE”<br> Secondly alleged is the key word about paying players, if you have information to prove your comments, take it to the league meeting and I guarantee the necessary actions will be taken. Until that day try to lead your team past the next 4 opponents, and you will get another chance to play the Hawks. So, coach what teams are we trying to humiliate that are “mostly former high school players”. They are men right? They are playing football, correct? Man….quit complaining and get your team ready to compete. DSMITH #6 Eastside Hawks

I have to ask this question, if any of these other teams would have, hypothetically speaking, beaten the Hawks would teams be canceling, or complaining like this? Bull7058 called it right. Since when in any sport are you allowed to pick your schedule? We are in fact a step below NFL, please tell me the last time this was allowed there? Bull 7058, you are the kind of player that we love to watch our men play against, a true player.
Demonforall, let me just go down the line post for post, “little bit like a punk kid. Is that what you are? ” That was your comment……. That is truly being classless.
Obviously I am somewhat bias, since I sit in the stadium, wherever it may be, and watch an exciting & winning team week after week (except this one) but I think a lot of what D Smith had to say offended you, when in fact it is true.
Raiderfan, do you really want to talk cheap shots and fights? Maybe you were not there when the Raiders tore up the locker room at Juanita High School, and the police came out? The end of that game was followed by near fights, while the Hawks were going into their locker room, and some disgruntled Raider players were the one to initiate it. How do I know so well, because I had to grab my 8 year old son who was walking with his dad when the 1st raider punch was thrown.
Boltwifeo4, the atmosphere we create? Would that be the winning atmosphere? “Horrible attitudes, you purposely try to start fights and you're just flat out unsportsmanlike and rude.” How many games played by the Hawks have you been to that justifies that comment? Did you loose those, if there has been more than one? If you’ve been to more than one or two Hawk games, you would not have made that comment. There haven’t been any actual fights besides that one initiated by the Raiders.
Droopy, I think you put it as a player and die hard fan would put it, “argument”, hopefully others understood that. Arguments are part of the intensity of the game.
Coach Fentress, allegedly? That is weak. You said enough with that. As for getting what we deserve, 6 WINS, excuse me, 7 WINS, 0 LOSSES, you are correct. We are getting what we deserve

I did not know about the fight started by the raiders or do I doubt that its true! BUT the only thing worse than a poor loser is a poor winner!! You keep saying other teams hate you because your good BUT I have not heared or read of one person denying your good!!football is a contact sport and people do get their dander up BUT rubbing their face in it makes it sooo much worse!! Get your egos under control because pride comes before a mighty fall!! karma always has a way of coming back and bitting you in the a#% one way or another!!

We're not poor winners, we work hard to win. So "DONT'T HATE THE PLAYER, HATE THE GAME". Somebody has to win and somebody has to lose, and we work hard to be on the winning end.

i am a first year Viking, i came out to play football and have fun, just like everyone else in this league. i enjoy everyday of games and everyday of practice just as much. I can honestly say that in all my years of playing any sport, my viking team has just as much heart as any, if not more. Every week we come out to play football no matter who is on the other sideline. Not one person on my team was "scared" to lose or scared to get hurt. each and everyone of my teamates was ready to lay it down on saturday and give it everything we had, even at the cost of another loss. I give respect to all of my team for going out week after week of losses, and still playing for that first win so deep in the season. And in the end, it was not up to us as players, but we trust our coaches to make the right descision. I am proud to be a part of this viking program, and no matter what people want to think, this organization is full of class and full of pride. Dsmith, there is no doubt that you guys have a great team, just know that there was not one of us afraid to come and play against you, regardless of the outcome. junz

Unless you pay the bills don't question what the owners do and who they chose to play. Show up, play the game, be greatful for the oportunity to play and go home and be who you chose to be.
And to all the people that seem to be sour grapes about something.. It's called a hug. Get one!!!
By the way congratulations to the Snohomish County Vikings. Solid win. And to #17.. The Twin man!! He caught over you .. the Twin caught over you......

Derrick,
Points were discussed last year and the NAFL only looks at the first 45 points scored, so those extra 54 point put up against the Panters don't really matter. Anything after 45 points is just to pad stats...that's all.

Post by DSMITH on Aug 9, 2004 13:08:17 GMT -5
Actually, from what I have read on the NAFL site only 29 points are accepted, but if it comes down to a tie breaker the extra points play a big part for home field and the cost to travel.

I would like to say that when the Tbolts played the Hawks they played us with class and sportsmanship. It was actually a fun game. And honestly if they practiced 5 times a week they would be even more dangerous. actually I would like to vote that they only get to practice once a week and only 7 total starters get to show up. just kidding you Hawks keep it up.
