I have to say that indeed, I am sure that there are concerns on the players behalf. I also have to say that YOUR owners may be the ones who dont attend the league meetings so your voice is not consistently being heard. This League was founded and continues the philosophy that We are here to provide an avenue for you to play. You pay(some of you) a fee to join. You all need to get realistic here and get off the schnide of a players union, and start first with petitioning your ownership to bring valid concerns to the table at meetings. You may argue that you dont agree with your owner and you wont have your issues addressed. Well, either get yourself a new ballclub where your owner cares about your concerns enough, or draft a letter to the commisioner with valid concerns and ask permission to attend a meeting and bring it to the table.

It's been brought up in the past. But nothing has ever come of it. Which honestly is what will probaly happen here. Simple fact the OWNERS and Comish Baines run this league. It's doubtful that they would let any kind of a players association or anything like that get any kind of thought. They provide the players a chance to play. With that said what kind of say do you really think the players will or should have? Yea most of us pay a players fee. But that is about $200 max. The owners fork out thousands season after season. I really hate sounding like a pessimist again on another thread but it's the truth. The owners don't pay us, so they really don't owe us anything. Remember, just because you pay them players fees, don't necessarily mean you're going to play. It's pay at your own risk.

Coach Dave is correct, go through your ownership first (One rep per team not all 400 plus of you). But keep in mind if a player rep is voted upon, this rep in-order to have a strong voice must ensure his team mates live up to their obligations as well. Anything can be done.

I just love the fact that you all are so concerned with the EFL that we're the main topic of discussion on your board. Brandon Tate, RB for the Stars, has changed his number for this game due to he lost weight and his #30 is too big for him now. Think what you will, there is no adding of players after the fifth week. I just love this attention!!! (smiling REALLY big)

It ain't the EFL Jerrid, it's more you and your inconsistencies. I love how you ban people on your board, but we "the evil empire" more than welcome everybody. Please keep posting....it'll give us more to laugh at.

An owners perspective on the player rep...
I read some of these posts and some of them make me laugh while others can be frustrating. I see players saying we pay our fees so the owners owe us. In my opinion, the only thing an owner "owes" a player is setting up games for them to play in, that is it. You pay your fees to play football and as long as that is provided then the owners obligations have been filled.
I look at it like a gym membership:
You sign a contract to use the gym You pay your fees (like players not always) You use the gym at your own risk
The only thing the gym has to provide is a suitable location for the members to work out.
Members can express concerns, and ideas all they want. However, those problems and concerns go to the club manager (i.e head coach or team owner) not all the way up to the main head quarters of that company (i.e. league meetings)
I have no problem with players voicing their concerns, ideas, or opinions but they need to come to me and not to the league, unless I have done something that has violated my obligations to my players.
This is just the opinion of one owner not a league or anyone else
Thanks
Brandon

We'd expect you to have an explanation/cover story all ready to go. ;D Seriously now, your explanation makes sense to me. The entire conversation seemed like an attempt to be funny anyways. I'll choose not to judge an entire league based on "Celine Dion's" hearsay and misunderstanding.

Headstang's post pretty much explains why a player's union won't make much of a difference.
What is it that the players could possibly ask for? Are they willing to pay increased fees to fund these requests/demands? The reality is, after a game when most players are on their 3rd or 4th beer at some club, the owners are still at the stadium cleaning up.
When it comes down to it the majority of players who "sign on" won't make any effort to follow through. For example, we've done everything we could think of to make it easy for players to vote for all-league and have never gotten 10% participation. Even teams that had coaches/player reps repeatedly push the issue at practices gave up in frustration.
Sorry that I have so little faith. I'd love to be proven wrong.

headstang i don't think the idea of a player rep is to go against the owners or anything like that its just players want to make this great game and league better and that is just a way for some players to get involved. I've been to some league meetings any players can go and even put in their input i'm sure the owners would love the help and fresh ideas.

Hasn't anyone figured out that all we are doing is getting this guy off (EFL Commish) and making him feel more relevant than he really is! He created the GNFA to be able to not include the NWFL. If you go through and read his posts (He is on here daily ) you will see that his sole purpose is to feel like he has created something that rivals the NWFL. There will never be any meaningful discussion for the NWFL joining because frankly it would defeat the entire purpose for forming it! I engaged in some of this so I know how easy it is to get sucked into the arguement but it's a dead issue. The people who started these other leagues are people that couldn't hack it in the NWFL so they took their ball and went and played somewhere else. Let's focus on our league and get focused on all of the wonderful things we have to be proud of! We will have a team in the National Title game this season and nobody will care who won the GNFA in another couple of weeks. In three leagues there are like 5 good teams, so who really cares anyway. There are teams regularly getting beat by 80 to 100 points and that is a disgrace for both sides..... the team that got beat like that, and the coaches on the other teams that ran the score up that high. ( I don't want to hear the we let off crap either there is a reason why this doesn't happen all the time and experienced coaches know how to keep the score down especially with a running clock!) NWFL let's get focused on what we have to be proud of!

Coach Swain, I would like to report that Mr. EFL Jerrid (who I have never met) has banned me from his EFL message board. Not sure as to why because I have rarely used it and when I have I have never said anything negative about the EFL on his message board. It might have been the suggestion and recommendation on this NWFL message board that all NW leagues should start in May to bring us all together. Or it could be that I Rob Rarey remind him of something the NWFL had done to him years ago. Maybe I typed something wrong months ago that upset him. If I did then I was wrong. Like I have said before I do not believe in just one King Commissioner of all 38 NW football teams but with 5 Commissioners of 5 NW leagues working together for the betterment of NW football as a whole. I think and believe that the EFL as well as all leagues do a great service in providing opportunities for guys to play this great game we all love to play and watch. It is just sad that there is this inner hostility from some past experience that blocks forward progress and forward thinking of all of minor league football. I hope that one day this hostility will heal.
In closing I'll say that outside league competition is a great and healthy thing for the NWFL. It has rallied the NWFL to come together and has motivated it in ways some would have never imagined. Even though the NWFL has successfully remained the premier football league for many many years now. The NWFL will continue to strive to improve and remain the best dam(n) football league for all lovers of this great game period.

Mr. Rarey, I am sorry to hear that but this is just another example of the guy acting like a complete child and getting kicks from behind his computer screen. He has made a total joke of himself with his antics but he probably never has recieved this much attention in his life good or bad and he is soaking it up. I find no reason to retaliate and ban him from ours because everytime he posts on our board, he confirms just how concerened he is with the NWFL. If he is so sure that he never wants to have anything to do with us, why is he registered and posting on our board daily and banning people from our league for no apparent reason on his. This guy is a joke! He can't ban me because I will never waste my time posting on his message board. If I were a player, coach, or owner in the EFL or GNFA I would be embarrassed. Can you imagine Ron Baines started doing this crap on other people's message boards? This guy is a freaking commisioner What a trainwreck.......Class? Integrity? Sportsmanship? Honesty? None of these are qualities that are being shown by your commisioner on OUR board on a daily basis! Is this really how the EFL or GNFA want to be seen by others?

Cavs58, My post did not mean anything about players going against the owners. All I was stating was if the players have an issue then take it to the owner of the team you play for first. Let your team owner know your concerns, ideas and problems, then let him take it to the board. If that does not work and you have given your team owner a couple chances to express what is going on and nothing is changing then you take it to the next level and show up and address those concerns yourself. Like in your job, if you had a problem you would take it to your immediate supervisor or boss, if things don't get resolved then you go over their head to the next level. You don't automatically go to the top dog because you would be stepping on toes and possibly pissing off quite a few people on your way.
I know that if my players had any questions, concerns, problems, or ideas I would want them to come to me first even if those are about me. It would give me a chance to fix the problem or explain why something might not work or I could find out the information needed to pass back to my players. But, if they all just suddenly showed up at a league meeting and started questioning the way things are ran or throwing issues around that haven't been run by me or been given to me to rep for my organization I would personally be hurt and imbarrassed. It would feel like my players did not trust me to make the right decisions for the organization or represent them well to the league.
Someone had asked for an owners opinion on the situation so I threw mine out there. All I am saying is give the owners of your teams a little respect and common courtesy by going to them first, if it is not resolved then go to the next level. My players knwo my "door" is always open for whatever it is they need to talk about.
Good Luck to everyone this next weekend in your season opener hopefully everyone comes out healthy.

alright ya'll are stupid who gives a darn what happens in what league? are you part of the EFL? no your part of the NWFL. so shut the hell up bout who is scared of who. no one is scared of anyone else. we shcedule game against different teams in different leagues so show it on the field. the way i see it you all big talkers on the board sure it is easy to type something up and look big. but its what happen on the field is what this is all about. i think everyone forgot why we in these leagues pretty simple cause we love football. thats it there really is no more to it then that. so stop making more of this then playing the game we all love to play. hey ted chill out on the EFL and jerrid show some respect who cares how they run their league thats up to them. not you. this thread should be done and over with so lets drop it. cause i know for a fact NWFL is not scared neither is the PNFC or EFL thats why we play cause we not scared. these attitudes is what make people mad and play dirty and then injuries happen. so again shut it up....and good luck to everyone still playing hope you all have a injury free year. no one gets paid remember that. without these leagues we all are just average joes with families so stay healthy for your families...GOD Bless.!

The tall guy has a point these games are played on the field and everything else matters little....SO maybe he will let us know when he actually sees the field! According to people that I have talked to, he won't go in the games even when he is asked to. So how are you, of all people, going to say be quiet and play ? Who are you? What have you done in this league besides post a ton of messages on the forum? Nobody disrespects you and tells you to be quiet at least I never have. So go to practice and try to contribute to your team and quit playing message board police. You don't have the credentials to do so period!
