Bear with me, I am doing this from memory. Linfield fought hard, but essentially we had more size, strength, and speed then they did, especially on defense and on the lines. It was enough to over come the expected sloppy play of little/no practice and lots of penaltys. Plus, we had enough players to not have to play much both ways. We picked up a real kicker (no offense Ishmael), 3 guys from theTbolts (#2 was Kenny Roberts, Kalani Mantanza, and Gary ?? who got a couple of sacks) 2 from the Bucs (David Littleton was QB), and 2 from the Panthers, all played and helped tremendously. The score went back and forth all game
until the 4th quater. We scored on a kickoff return, 60 yd bomb, a long drive of mostly running plays (that was nice), and sealed it with an interception return for TD. We ended the game by driving 60 yards down the one, killing the last 4+ minutes of clock time, then took a knee. They scored basically on two medium length passes after ripping us up with short timing passes. Linfield was very sharp in the first quarter, but their starting QB went out hurt. Didn't see any 250lb QBs. They had some difficulty picking up the blitz, and we stuffed their run game repeatedly. 3 step timing patterns were their best choice by the end of the game.
Linfield:
* fought hard every play
* sophisticated timing passing game
* need to work on blitz pickup
Raiders:
* greater team speed
* more strength then them on our O-line
* many stupid penaltys
There was a little but of woofing going on as well, not out of hand, but enough that you could tell they were
listening. They got reminded alot they were just boys,
compared to most of us, and after a while I think it started getting to them.
Linfield played hard and was an excellent host, I would do it again in a heartbeat.
