I just wanted to take the time to acknowledge a player on our team for all that he has done over the years. Of course there are many that deserve the same acknowledgment so maybe we will make this a weekly thing but I want to start with Marquise Cross.
Quise has been with us for several years. He is a LEADER both ON the field and OFF. He has spent hundreds of extra hours dealing with player issues, picking people up, calling people to go to practice, tracking down gear, coaching on the field, and filling in and doing things that the coaches don't have the time to do.
He has never complained about his role, and always been willing to play another spot to help the team. Quise has always been the ultimate team player. He has set an example by always doing whatever has needed to be done! He has paved the way for the younger players to enjoy the good times that we have enjoyed recently.
Understand that as coaches we realize and notice the extra things that you as players do to keep our team together. Maybe we don't stop to thank people enough. In this case Quise hasn't complained or asked to be acknowledged. I just want people to understand that we as coaches APPRECIATE ALL THAT YOU DO.
We also have the not so great job of having to get on our players from time to time to make sure that our focus is where it should be. Quise has always been a leader in this regard as well. Understand that leaders on this football team will be subject to more intense scrutiny than rookies. "A team's attitude reflects leadership" Leaders are responsible for where our focus is going into every game just as much as coaches. If you are a leader on our team you might not have asked for this responsibility, but you have earned it, and now you can't run away from it! So I ask that you do this like you have done everything else with class, dignity, and grace! The younger players look up to you so think about your legacy and how you want to be remembered when this is all over!
